My parents have taken my brothers and me to Walt Disney World more times than I care to admit. Our first family trip was in the early 80s when the Magic Kingdom was the only show in town and the character costumes looked like some scary Chuck E. Cheese hand me down.
The biggest two reasons they loved WDW so much is: 1) there is always something new to explore and discover and 2) there is something for every age level, interest and budget.
However, our voyages to the Mouse House have been anything but normal. Just the trip to Orlando was an adventure in itself. We have traveled there by car, van, RV and airplane. And as soon as we left the driveway we usually had a tad drama, a touch of adventure and a ton of fun! But isn’t that was every vacation should be? Just think of a Harp family vacation as three parts “Griswolds,” two parts “Planes, trains and automobiles,” and one part “Indiana Jones.”
As the parks have expanded, so has our family. My bothers and I are married with families of our own. Our parents have definitely passed the vacation baton off to each of us and we continue to preserve the spirit of a “Harp Vacation.”
As we embark on the next chapter in my family’s vacation series – I will retell some of the stories and legends of our past trips and blog some of the adventures of this trip.
Are you ready!

Did you guys rent a vacation home in Orlando?
We have stayed in a condo before – but never a vacation home. I have heard great things about them and have considered it several times.
My biggest reason for NOT staying in a vacation home has been the convenience of Disney’s transportation, food court, etc.
We are starting to get into the planning phase for our next trip to Orlando. Maybe I’ll take another look at vacation homes. What are your suggestions?
